WednesdayclassicarcadegamesfreeAccording to media reports, Amazon will launch Alexa, an artificial intelligence voice assistant with more conversation capabilities, later this year and plans to charge a monthly subscription fee to offset technology costs.

The report quoted people familiar with Amazon's plans as saying that while Amazon has not yet determined a price for the new service, subscriptions to Alexa will not be included in its popular $139 annual Prime service.

Amazon declined to comment on the report.

In September, the company said it was developing a generated version of Alexa based on artificial intelligence amid growing competition between OpenAI and chat bots made by Alphabet's Google.

In its annual shareholder letter released last month, the company further highlighted the plan, saying it was building GenAI applications in its consumer business, including the more powerful Alexa.

The company launched Alexa in 2014, but didn't find a way to continue making money, but instead used it to guide shoppers to the company's website to spend more.

Meanwhile, OpenAI last week released a new artificial intelligence model called gpt - 40 that allows users to talk to ChatGPT and get real-time responses without delay. It can also interrupt ChatGPT.

Last week, Google also announced an upgraded version of its Gemini chat bot and improvements to its search engine.

According to media reports, Apple also plans to reform artificial intelligence for its virtual assistant Siri, which is seen as another laggard in the artificial intelligence race.

Reports say Amazon will use its own Titan large language model to upgrade Alexa.

The company has made big bets in artificial intelligence, including investing $4 billion in Anthropic, whose Cloud chatbot is competing with ChatGPT.

However, investors are concerned that Microsoft's investment in OpenAI has given itself a lead in the artificial intelligence race and could help it seize significant market share from Amazon Web Services, the largest player in the cloud industry.
