OpenAI has launched a faster and cheaper artificial intelligence model to support its chat robot ChatGPT. The startup is trying to maintain a leading position in an increasingly crowded market.
In the live event on MondayNftandcryptogamesOpenAI launched a new large language model, GPT-4o. This is an updated version of the GPT-4 model that has been available for more than a year. The model is trained based on a large amount of data from the Internet, is better at processing text and audio, and supports 50 languages. The new model will be open to all users, not just paying users.
The release of GPT-4o is bound to shake up the fast-growing field of artificial intelligence, and GPT-4 is still the gold standard. A growing number of startups and large technology companies, including Anthropic, Cohere and Google, a unit of Alphabet Inc., have recently launched artificial intelligence models and claim to be comparable to or even better than GPT-4 in some benchmarks.
OpenAI's release of the new model also comes a day before Google's IZP O developer conference. Google, an early leader in artificial intelligence, is expected to use the event to release more artificial intelligence updates to catch up with Microsoft-backed OpenAI.
